Postdoctoral and Technician positions available immediately at the Wilmer Eye Institute, Johns Hopkins University, to work on projects studying mechanisms of early age-related macular degeneration. We are using mouse models in experiments that utilize loss and gain of function strategies to study the effects of cigarette smoking and lipoproteinson early disease onset.
This is exciting, cutting-edge work using predominantly genetically modified mice, but also cell culture and human histopathologic correlations. Besides genetic models, we will also test targeted drugs aimed at preventing the advancement of early disease.
We are looking for motivated and independent scientists who will be willing to contribute with their expertise and knowledge to the implementation and advancement of these projects.
Experience with genetically modified mice, and in depth knowledge of cell and molecular biology are required. A collegial and collaborative attitude is also a must. Familiarity with the eye is preferred.
The laboratory is located in the new, state-of-the-art Smith Research Building of the Wilmer Eye Institute.
